Install, Conflicts & Troubleshooting
Why isn't my Squarewebsites plugin loading on my Squarespace site?
A Squarewebsites plugin that isn't loading is usually caused by one of four things: your Squarespace plan doesn't enable Code Injection, the snippet is pasted in the wrong injection area, the browser or Squarespace cache hasn't cleared, or the plugin isn't compatible with your template or block type. Verify your plan, code placement, and cache first, then contact support.
Check your Squarespace plan
Code Injection — sitewide Header and Footer placement — is only available on Business plans and above (Squarewebsites). If you’re on a Personal plan, sitewide injection isn’t available and the plugin won’t load from Code Injection; you’ll need the Code Block or Markdown block workaround instead (Squarewebsites).
Verify code placement
Each plugin has a specific target area. Lazy Summaries needs the Footer Injection, the Custom Table Block needs CSS in the Header and JS in the Footer, and the Advanced Map Block goes in Header or Footer Injection (Squarewebsites). Pasting the snippet in the wrong area is a common reason a plugin doesn’t appear.
For the Custom Table Block specifically, keep separate adjacent tables apart with a Spacer or Line block, because Squarespace merges nearby Markdown blocks (Squarewebsites).
Clear cache and wait
Squarespace and your browser both cache aggressively. Universal Filter caches results for roughly 10 minutes, so configuration changes can take time to show up (Squarewebsites). After pasting or editing a snippet, do a hard refresh and confirm in a private window before assuming the plugin failed.
Template and block compatibility
Some plugins only work on specific collection or block types. Universal Filter, for example, supports Blog, Products, Gallery, Events, and Summary Blocks but won’t filter arbitrary page content — and certain 7.1-only layouts like Portfolio Hover aren’t supported (Squarewebsites). the exact block-type matrix for your template if the plugin loads nowhere on the page.
When to ask for help
If the plan, placement, and cache checks all pass, reach out for support. Every plugin includes free basic-setup support to get the standard configuration working, and paid help is available for anything beyond that (Squarewebsites).
