Can I add custom map markers and labels in Squarespace?
Not with the native Squarespace Map Block, which uses default Google pins. The Advanced Map Block plugin adds custom marker images per category and custom labels, and lets you style the underlying map with Snazzy Maps or Google Maps styles. Markers pull from a collection whose items have filled Location Tabs.
What the native block allows
Squarespace’s built-in Map Block shows a single location with default Google Maps pins, with no option to swap the marker image or add per-category labels (Squarewebsites). Custom markers require a plugin.
Custom markers and labels with Advanced Map Block
The Advanced Map Block plugin supports custom marker images per category and custom labels on each pin (Squarewebsites). You assign markers by category within your source collection, so different location types (for example stores versus warehouses) can each get a distinct pin.
Styling the map itself
Beyond markers, you can restyle the whole map using Snazzy Maps or the Google Maps Styles tool (Squarewebsites). The plugin exposes the Google Maps instance, and custom style values start at 11 because Squarespace reserves values 1 through 10 (Squarewebsites).
