Can I customize the excerpt length for Squarespace blog post summaries?
Lazy Summaries controls how many summary items a block displays (up to 250), not the length of each item's excerpt text. Excerpt length is a native Squarespace Summary block setting configured per block. Lazy Summaries adds Load More, caching, and image hover, but does not change the excerpt character count.
What Lazy Summaries changes
Lazy Summaries raises the number of items a Summary block displays — from 30 up to 250 — and adds Load More, session-storage caching, and alt-image-on-hover for products. It does not alter the character count of each summary item’s excerpt text (Squarewebsites).
Excerpt text length is native
Excerpt length for blog post summaries is a Squarespace Summary block setting configured per block, not a Lazy Summaries feature. The fact pack does not document native excerpt-length controls in detail — check the Summary block’s display settings in the Squarespace editor to adjust how much text each card shows.
If you want both
You can use Lazy Summaries to show more items and rely on the native block settings to control each excerpt’s length; the two concerns are independent (Squarewebsites).
